My GGF John T. Stephens was the second pastor at First Baptist Church. His son Ron Stephens (my GF) was a prominent citizen in Lawton and administrator of the WPA in the 1940s. My other GGF, Josiah Kindt, settled in Lawton April 1, 1904. His daughter Flossie, my GM, graduated from LHS in 1913 (I have her yearbook). On my father's side, my GGF John Burney Anderson came to Lawton in july, 1901 and settled a farm in the Flower Mound community, where the family lived for 18 years, until moving into the town of Lawton. My grandmother Lela graduated from LHS in 1921. I have her yearbooks from 1918-21. I also have many old newspaper clippings about the families. Lela married Val Frakes, son of W. T. Sherman Frakes, who came to Oklahoma from Indiana before 1902. My grandfather was born in Oscar, OK in October, 1902. I would love to share information. I have a handwritten history of early Lawton written by my grandmother Flossie which I have transcribed. I also have quite a few pictures.
