    1. [OKCOMANC-L] Re: FYI
    2. Thanks for the information, Peggy...I have several families from Ellis County (Ballard and Shipley), so I'll send queries to the column. How nice they have e-mail! BTW,while I have your attention...8-)...the Comanche County webpage is in need of new research material, so I'd like to ask you all to see if there is some information you could share with others... Do you have access to county records, cemetery rolls, even old high school yearbook classes? If any of you live in the county, could you volunteer to do lookups? I think a photo page would be a good addition...featuring early Comanche County families, their homes, around town, or school classes. A new section on Biographical Sketches of early county residents would be an excellent addition to the page. We could start a list of favorite research sites...send 4 or 5 of the places you look first for something. How about a collaborative project to put the 1900 federal census for Comanche County on the page? Do any of you have ideas on how to increase the research sources available to visitors? To have scanned photos, bios, favorite sites, and any other early county material added to the webpage, please forward it to: TimeTrvlrO@aol.com Thank you, LaRae Halsey-Brooks County Coordinator Comanche County GenWeb Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcomanc/okgen.htm In a message dated 9/3/99 9:34:16 AM Pacific Daylight Time, MawPeggy@ectisp.net writes: << The Waxahachie Light has a genealogy column called "Missing Links" where people can send queries. 1. [OKCOMANC-L] Software Reviews
    2. W. L. Watkins
    3. My helpful fellow list members: Would someone be able and kind enough to direct me to a good source of genealogy software reviews? I am interested in finding a comprehensive program that is modern hardware and Windows 98 friendly. The program I am now using cannot even function adequately with higher speed processors much less the vagaries of Win 98. I am even considering the awesome task of transfer of data to another program if one can be found ........or has merger madness stalled development? 3. Thanks Deborah; Yes I am from Lawton. I know Logston was taking pictures in the early 20s through the 50s but am not certain how much earlier. Any chance they are still operating? The photo that I have really seems to be much earlier and I was surprised to see any photo name on it. It is not a critical thing but if you have the time I would appreciate what you could find out. I plan to send a scan of it (along with some photos taken at the land opening) to the genealogical society there and it would be nice to be able to date it .
