Hello, I am looking for information on J.L. Rutherford and Mollie ? Rutherford. They were married March 15, 1918 in Quanah, Hardeman County., TX. They were divorced Nov. 13, 1922 in Lawton, Comanche, OK. In the divorce decree, it mentions they had a son named Wayne Rutherford. Mollie later went on to marry P.L. Leonard on Feb. 14, 1924 in Lawton, Comanche Co., OK. They were divorced, Dec 28, 1933 in Lawton, Comanche, OK. It does not mention any children born to P.L. and Mollie in the decree. It does mention that she had a son from a previous marriage, which must have been Wayne Rutherford. Now, my dad said that Mollie and P.L. (my grandfather) had 2 children and I have pictures of them. There names were Rowan/Rowen P. Leonard and Clara Norene Leonard. If anyone has any information or is headed to the library, I would appreciate any help on this! Clara and Rowan may be still alive and we want to find them. PLEASE, if this sounds familiar please email me. Thank you, Jennifer Powers

AAh, I am so disappointed! I sent off for the Dawes File for what I thought were my people and got it today in the mail! They are not my people! The name Martha A. Parks was correct but, not for her husband or kids. The other name Rebecca Parks was also correct but, her husband is not my ggg grandfather. I am so bummed! If anyone has access to the Dawes Rolls, (without me having to go through the NARA site) and would do a lookup for me, I'd appreciate it. I am looking for the Surnames Park/s and Leonard. Thanks a million! Jennifer

Rosetta BENNETT died in July 1974 in Lawton, Comanche Co., OK. I am wondering if she was the daughter of "S.S." WILLIAMS of Madison Co., AL.? And the widow of Frank BENNETT? They had three sons: George, Leon & Wilson. If so, I would love to make contact with any family members. She would have been my great aunt. I am the granddaughter of her brother, Willie Lee WILLIAMS, who went to Texas & was killed in 1929. Lisa WILLIAMS Texas

I need some advice on a situation. I just called Student records at Lawton ISD and they said that I would have to get a court order to look at the records of those 2 kids of Preston Leonard. Well, it was nice to hear that their records went as far back as 1907 but, I don't know their names just that they attended school there in the early 20's. Now, I don't have the money to get a lawyer. Isn't there a way that I could write a judge there and ask him to give me permission?? My goodness that is all I did in Wichita Falls,TX to get my husband's adoption records unsealed! I heard nightmares of how people had such a difficult time getting adoption records unsealed! Not a problem here! I just don't know what judge to write to!! Can some one please give me some advice since I don't live near Lawton. Jennifer
Hello I am new to the list and I am looking for 2 children born in Preston Lenor Leonard and ?. Preston was my grandfather and he had 2 children a boy and a girl from a previous marriage before he married my grandmother, Loes Depew Leonard. When my grandfather and grandmother married, 21 Sept. 1937 in Anson,TX my grandmother's daughter from a previous marriage attended school with these children in Lawton Oklahoma. She said that it was back in the early 1920's. The mother of the 2 children took the kids, left and were never heard of again. And of course, this was something that wasn't talked about. Preston was born 12 Dec 1891 in LeHigh or Loco, OK and died 29 Oct. 1961 in Lawton, OK, he was missing half of his thumb on his left hand and also had a tattoo of a lady wearing a bathing suit on his left forearm. I believe that these kids would be in there mid 80's. If this sounds familiar please contact me. Thank you, Jennifer Powers

Hi, Just wanted to thank those of you who have contacted me about adding new material to the Comanche County webpage. Stop by and see the new photos contributed to the page by Trudy...a photograph of the Liberty School, taken about 1912-13, and one of the Liberty School, Class of 1914. Trudy was given the photos by 97-year old Iona Pollock, and she was kind enough to share them with us. Some of the young girls in the class photo are holding their prized dolls. We'll soon have the '40, '46, and '49 Wolverine Lore yearbooks senior class rosters added to the page, along with photos from each yearbook. LaVelle Boyd is submitting this material, and it will prove to be a valuable source in placing families in the county 50-60 years ago. If any of you have additional material that might be of interest to others researching their Comanche County families, please forward it to me and I'll add it to the page. Thanks, LaRae Comanche County GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcomanc/okgen.htm
