    1. [OKCOMANC] PRIDDY Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Grace PRIDDY which was taken at the Spurr Studio in Creston, IA sometime in the 1890's. Grace is just an infant at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "Martinette Daughter" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Grace and her family: Grace Goldie PRIDDY was b. 20 Aug 1898 in Orient Township, Adair Co., IA to parents Benjamin Franklin PRIDDY (b. 29 Sept 1872 in Tazewell Co., IL to parents Oliver C. PRIDDY and Leah DEAN - died 10 Aug 1951 in Wichita, KS) and Grace WEBB (d. 1898). Grace's Mother Grace died the same day that baby Grace was born and later her father remarried Martinette WEBB (1880-1973) and together they had five children including, Gladys; Bonnie Susie; Benjamin Franklin Jr.; Charlotte E.; and Oletha Lillian PRIDDY, all born between 1902 and 1915. Grace's Mother is buried in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston, IA. Grace married twice, first to Orville Eugene BROOKS (1894-1959) with whom she had a daughter, Norma Maxine BROOKS (1921-1999) and second to Jesse Meredith SLATEN (1889-1981) whom she married in 1966. Grace died 10 Feb 1993 and she is buried in the Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita, KS. Grace's daughter married Mr. RICE and she died in 1999. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Orient, IA: Oliver PRIDDY, age 57, born Jun 1842, married 36 years, born IL, parents born VA/NY, a Farmer Leah PRIDDY, wife, age 53, born Jan 1847, married 36 years, 4 children/4 living, born PA, parents born PA Ben F. Author: GLanthier6239 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.comanche/1323/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Is there any kind of death index for Comanche County death records that someone could check? I am looking for three ancestors who I believe died in Comanche County, and don't mind paying $45 to get death certificates, but I'd rather not pay $45 to find out there's nothing there. I would start with obituaries, but those seem to be pretty hard to find, too. The people I'm looking for are Sarah Elizabeth (Shelton) Robertson, b. 15 Feb 1840 d. 7 Aug 1918, Robert Young Robertson, b. 5 Oct 1833 d. 18 Mar 1920, and Joel Lee Jackson, b. 19 Jan 1865, d. 27 May 1922. The first two were probably in the Indiahoma area and the last one in Lawton. Thanks for any help you can provide. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The census records have birth as 1873 and 1870, but his birth record states 1871. TO make it more complicated, his WW1 draft card shows 1872. At least the month and day are the same. On the draft record it states he does own a Quarry. The marriage record shows he was married to Joanna Irene Mccarthy. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
