She was born to Coy and Sarah Spruill (last name spelling may not be correct). I believe Coy was a Choctaw Indian because of the descriptions given and constant reference to Choctaws by my grandmother. Coy had "coal black" hair that he washed in "cold" water every morning. Sarah was a light-skinned African-American woman. All of their children had their light-skinned, high cheek-bone, long-hair features. Her sibblings included Mary, Esther, Frank (went to "the war"), Willie, Abby (married Joe Bush and lived in Washington). Sibbling's children included Honey, Marie, Cherry Ann, and Pumpkin--I don't remember other names. My grandmother's children included Willie Whittaker (father: James Whittak; changed name to Whittaker in the North), Estelle Johnson (father: Sam Johnson) Bertha Crape, Roberta Crape, Beulah Crape, and Robert Crape, Jr., all children of Robert Crape. Robert Crape is the son of a Blackfoot Indian Chief, but I don't know the name of either parent. Aunt's name was Beulah. Robert had "coal black" hair with a very wavy pattern. He was a very dark skinned man. He was born Nov. 17, 1914 in Mississippi. Thanks so much for any help!
