The present Goodland is the first one, there since 1834, is the one that had/has a school, children's home, post office, store, history and cemetery. It has never moved. It was known as "Old Goodland" for a few years in the early 1900s when the railroad started using "Goodland" for a crossing north of Hugo. The original and present Goodland is south of Hugo. The attached map is undated, but was from before the first railroad authorization of 1882 and before Spencer Academy was moved in 1878. Note the trail/road pattern at Goodland. The next attached map shows the 1882 railroad, but still not the newer Goodland nor Hugo, which were both north of "Old Goodland".
