Henry's father, George Gooding, was a sutler at Ft. Towson from his appointment April 20, 1831 to Nov. 26, 1840. Goodland became a mission in 1848 and people such as the Goodings moved there to settle. Henry's sister was there before 1860. So, it is possible that the Crews family also followed from the fort to Goodland, for farming. Their farms were several miles apart, as I recall from when I talked with relatives there in the 1980s. I found the photo of Roxie Crews' with her father and a sister. For some reason her brother and mother were not there. Perhaps the Choctaw boy several rows behind her was her brother. Several of the children next to her were probably Goodings. Photo is circa 1901-02 and includes a man with the church's session minutes - typical Presbyterian Church photo. The local minister and his cousin, also a minister, were on the far left of the photo. The current and the future director of Goodland, were next to Roxie. I have labelled them in a section of the original photo, attached.
