Surnames: Carnahan, Maurer, Pennington, Barnett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zZB.2ACI/77.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi - and thanks for your reply. Our Grandmother's name was Laura. That's all we know. No known last name. She married a man by the name of Maurer who was killed after she had 2 of his daughters. Then she married a man by the name of Barnett. Betty, one of her daughters, married this Barnett's son who died. After his death Betty then married John Patrick Carnahan. We have no trace of where Laura came from, no documentation, just word of mouth. It has been told that she was an orphaned Choctaw and raised in a Mission School somewhere in Oklahoma. The name Pannington comes from a woman who was found to be living with her and one of her husbands. It was believed that this Pennington woman may have been the one that took her in after the school. If you have any leads or documentation, please let me know. I will be ever so grateful. Thanks - Ruth

If in Choctaw Nation then you need to look under Choctaw nation. Call the court house to see if they have the records. If they don't then they will tell you where they are.
