Surnames: BROCK-CAMPBELL-STEPHENS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zZB.2ACI/479 Message Board Post: I am looking for information about my family from this area. My great-grandfather was WILLIAM G. CAMPBELL, married to SARAH JANE 'SALLIE' BROCK in Dec. 1892, in Cass Co., TX. They moved their family up to Choctaw Co. in Nov. 1912. He would have been about 54, she about 42, when they arrived in OK., near Spencerville. Their oldest child, BROCK BURNIS CAMPBELL, was my dad's father. Brock would have been about 19 when he arrived in Okla. He served in WWI, and married LAURA LEE STEPHENS. She was from the Sawyer area. They later moved to McCurtain County. I did visit their graves this past year. I know that he (Brock Campbell), is buried in Spencerville with his parents, and my grandmother (Laura Campbell) is buried in Sawyer with her parents. I have been told that my grandmother, Laura Stephens-Campbell's father was a doctor. His name was VALENTINE T. STEPHENS. I am hoping that there is someone out there who knows something of my family. 1. [OKCHOCTA] Surnames: Gladden, Warren, Halford, Hinkle, McQueen
    2. I am investigating these surnames from Soper and vicinity. These are names in my ex-husbands family. I am doing the checking for my children's ancestry. Martha Frances Warren was born Feb 1901 in Soper, Choctaw Co, OK. On her Social Security application she lists Lee Warren and Winnie Halford as her parents. The only Winnie (Minnie) and Lee Warren combination I could find on the 1910 census was in Ocmulgee Co. It lists their ages as 30 with Winnie (Minnie) listed as being born in MO and her father born in GA and mother born in Ohio. Lee and both his parents are listed as coming from KY. I have no idea if this is the right family. It was difficult to read and it looked like the name that started with Ma**na was born later that 1901. Other names were children Opal and Ivan. Martha Frances Warren got married in May of 1917 in Soper. Her husband's name is listed as A.R. Gladden age 25 ( which would have made his date of birth 1891 or 1892). The paper for the permission for Martha to marry was signed by a Winnie McQueen. So either she is divorced from Lee Warren or he is dead or she never legally married him. It looks like in any case she is married again or is using the name McQueen. When Martha applied for her social security card 26 Feb 1952 in California her name is Martha F. Hinkle, so she is no longer married to A. R. Gladden. Martha had 2 surviving girls: Aron or Aaron Aline Gladden (Sept 1918) and Jessee/Jessie Gladden (ca 1920). One of the girls was a twin. The other twin died as a baby. If anyone has any information or recognizes these people please let me know. Martha said she is part native American, probably Cherokee or Choctaw. I have sent a search off for the Dawes roll but have gotten no response yet.
