My Aunt, Helen Jordan lives in Boswell across the street from the Grocery Store (My mom says the store is no longer open). Aunt Helen's house faces Highway 70. My grandmother and grandfather are buried at Restlawn Cemetery. Their names are Nora Ethel Ray and Marshall Hollie Ray. Also buried in Restlawn Cemetery is Opal Post and Bill Post (Opal is the oldest daughter of Nora Ethel and Marshall Hollie Ray). My Mom (Beulah Ray) and Dad (Wiley Granville Herman) grew up near Sandbluff. They went to school at Archie and Buckhorn. Ruby Herman Pantalone

Many of the records from that time period are now in storage as they are very fragile. Access to them is denied by anyone. Some records have burned as Hugo had a fire many years ago and records were lost. It is always worth a try to call them. They are very helpful whenever possible.

I found the ORIGINAL marriage certificate in the family bible (which is now in the possession of his 91 yr.old daughter, Pearl Baker) in Soper, OK. It seems that it was never sent back to the proper government agency to be recorded. So, your ancestors may have done the same thing and you will never find any record of the marriage. The fine for not returning the original to the proper agency within 60 days of date of marriage was $100, alot of money in those days! Do you suppose the state will still fine them now if it is turned in? LOL

The county site currently has over 420 pages, more than 100 obits, over 700 headstone photos (total images online in excess of 2500). Does anyone have access to census or records from Soper, "Indian Territory", Oklahoma? I know this was in Choctaw Nation. I would appreciate ANY information on this family! I found information that W.R.Hunt and wife (possibly Leona?) TOWNSEND lived in Soper, Indian Territory. An old picture had "Soper, I T" on the back. If anyone has access to 1900 Choctaw Nation Census for Soper area or the 1910 census for Soper, Choctaw, OK area, I would appreciate a lookup for this HUNT family .
