    3. Sandra, I found your post of Malinda Martin's petition to the Dawes Commission quite interesting. What a treasure trove of information for you. Was she denied on the basis of not living continuously in the Nation? Don't do it just for me, but if anyone else should request that you post her supporting petitions, please do so. One thing I was particularly interested in was the note about her brother moving her to Rolla MO during the Civil War. Does anyone on this list have more information about this "practice" during the Civil War? I've heard of families moving to Kansas, Texas, and Missouri. I'm wondering if there could have been some intermarriage or just plain old friendship development while in these other states that then led to "whites" moving into Indian Territory after the war.
