Posted on: Cherokee County, OK Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Cherokee/197 Surname: Miller, Hunnicutt ------------------------- Blue Spring Cemetery is near what used to be called Gideon, which had a public rural elementary school which probably closed about 1963 and a store which closed about 1979. The closest community is Peggs, located on Hwy 82 near the Cherokee Mayes County line. Vian is near the Cherokee County line (in Sequoyah County) almost opposite corner of Cherokee County from Blue Spring. But there are 2 Mary A. Millers listed in the Cherokee Rolls. (No Hunnicutts or variations thereof that I could find). And the Miller Applications for these will have lots of info from which you can determine if this is your ancestor. There is, I believe, a post below telling how to get copies of these, and an article by me about this subject. One of the Mary A. Millers was Dawes Roll 6074 Miller 18996; The other was Dawes 2450, Miller 18976. One way to narrow it down would be to give me others in the same Miller family living at that time. These other names, if there also, will tell you it is worth the trouble. The Miller Apps are excellent, but the App number is not within my information, and you could ask the Indian Territory Genealogical & Historical Society volunteer to cross-reference from these numbers to the actual application, which contains more than the Roll. That website has instructions about what they need from you in order to answer a query. There may be Miller Apps online thru National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) using their NAIL database, alternatively. That info is searchable by name.
