You may be referring to the actual cemetery where John Ross, President of Cherokee Nation when they moved from the East to Oklahoma, is buried along with his wife and other relatives. It is on the SE side of Tahlequah, just outside town, and near what I understand was a school. I was at the cemetery in July. It was hard to find, because it is out of sight from the road, just past the school on the left hand side, and the only sign identifying it is hanging on the entrance gate itself, so that when it is open you can't see the sign to know it's even there! The cemetery is also in pretty poor shape, but definitely worth the visit from an historical point of view, if this is the one you are referring to.
