I have run across WOLFEs in this area that are Indian and there are some references in the newspaper articles to some of them, one of them appears to be a bad man (criminal). You might want to check this out. I don't remember which newspaper or county, but I searched Murray, Garvin and Carter Counties at the same time. I am interested in this surname here for another reason. I just found out that one of my ancestors married a WOLFE. They are living in Phoenix AZ 1915, but Artie Mae DENT WOLFE (b 1882 OK IT) may have married this WOLFE in OK and then they moved to AZ. I am thinking that it is possible that Mat WOLFE was the father of the WOLFE that Artie Mae married. I might also add that Artie Mae was probably part Chickasaw.
