Or did they originate from MO. My ancestor was GEORGE WASHINGTON4 VINEYARD (WILLIAM3, JONATHAN2, ISHMAEL1) was born March 04, 1843 in Osage Co., Mo., and died June 22, 1912 in Montague Co., TX.. He married CATHERINE FENNESSEY October 14, 1864 in Maries Co., Missouri, daughter of THOMAS FENNESSEY and FRANCES HOVINGTON. She was born December 14, 1849 in Lynn, Essex Co., Ma, and died May 16, 1934 in Nocona, Montague Co., TX.. Notes for GEORGE WASHINGTON VINEYARD: George and Catherine (Fennessey) Vineyard's first two children, Mary and Margret Ellen were born in Maries Co., MO. Leroyd, who died young could have been born in either Maries or Pulaski Co., MO. Laura Isabella, Emma Evalina, and Albert Thomas were born in Dixon, Pulaski County, MO. George David, their seventh child, listed Vienna, Maries Co., Mo, as his birthplace. The family moved to Geigersville, Yell Co., AR, by 1880 when the Federal census was taken. This is where their eighth child, Mandy Alice was born. The last two children, Annie D and Ida Cordelia were born in Montague Co., TX. George was a farmer. George had served in the Civil War as a private in Co. B, Maries Co., Reg., Missouri Militia, for 92 days. He was enrolled 9 Aug 1862 and relieved from duty 9 Nov 1862. He was then enrolled in Co. H, Maries Co., Battalion, 23 April 1863. He was mutered into service 1 May 1864. Catherine tried to get a Confederate Widow's pension from the state of Texas. She first applied Sept. 30, 1926 and tried unsucessfully until her death in 1934. "Rejection on the ground that the Maries County Enrolled Missouri Militia, the only organization in which it is alleged the soldier servied, was not mustered into the servide of the United States within the period of the Civil War. When George Vineyard and his brother Jackson decided to move to Texas, Jack Vineyard went ahead on Foot, looking for land. It was a wet spring, and when nothing more was heard from him, his family supposed that he had drowned crossing a creek or that he had run into foul play. He left his wife Jane and tow children with George Vineyards family. Jane remarried to a man who killed his first wife. This husband mistreated her, and she left her two children with George Vineyard's family. Later, her husband returned alone, claiming that Jane had left him. The family long suspected, however, that he had also killer her.
