Posted on: Carter County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Carter/1338 Surname: Farrar, Williams, Wyrick ------------------------- A. Russell, I just got my grandmother and grandfather Williams 1906 marriage license copy from the Carter Co. Courthouse in Ardmore. The Chickasaw Nation Court Records are a part of the Carter Co. Oklahoma court records now. I did find their names indexed in the publication: Kinard, Mary Turner, Chickasaw Nation Marriages - Ardmore Courthouse - Bride Index 1895-1907. I think it was posted somewhere in the OKGEN Pages. I will have to look for that URL for you. The Chickasaw Nation Library (on the west edge of Ardmore) has wonderful resources including a collection of early editions of the newspaper "The Daily Ardmorite". There is a column from a social/reporter for Elk (Elk was the IT name for what became Pooleville) and one for another community, "Graham" some 4 or 5 miles SW of Elk. I found my grandmother's first husband death reported as well as some social references of the family during the early 1900s. I think the files go back somewhat farther. Neat stuff to find about ancestors one has never met. :-) My Surnames for the Carter co. Pooleville(ELK) area are: J.C. Williams, Harry Aston Wyrick and Willie Belle Farrar Good luck in your search. Be sure to visit the Carter Co. Courthouse in Ardmore. The Court Clerk's office was very helpful to us. Charles Prichard. Lawton, Oklahoma
