I've been searching the Web without success, and am now wondering whether anyone in Carter County might suggest how to track this down. In 1893, Nathan Zumwalt reportedly killed Johnson (or John) Lewis and was subsequently hanged in either Ardmore or Guthrie. His wife, Emily J Zumwalt, was apparently of the Choctaw tribe. She was listed in the 1900 census as a widow.
