Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UYB.2ACE/882.884.1055.1059.1.2 Message Board Post: Ron - Charles Granville Stewart was my great great grandfather. Here is what I have on him: He was born Rankin County Mississippi, moved to Texas, then to Arkansas in 1850, and back to Texas where he died in 1893.He farmed around Palestine, Texas and is buried in Providence Cemetery, Lockhart,Texas. Charles Granville was born in Rankin Co., MS and had the following brothers and sisters: Sarah Catherine Stewart b 1824 in Rankin Co, MS, married James Alexander Cliborn; William Stewart; Daniel B. Stewart b 1832; Mary Stewart; James Stewart. Charlles Granville did not get along with his stepfather and left home early. He supposedly came to Texas, then moved to Arkansas, then back to Texas. He died in Anderson Co., in 1893. Charles Granville's brother Daniel B. may have come to Texas with him the first time. from Sherma Raymond dsray1938@aol.com There is a publication "Pioneers of Anderson County,Texas" which has more information on Charles Granville Stewart and his offspring. The ANDERSON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY is on line, and may be able to help, as will I, and "cousin" Sherma Raymond. Her husband is a Stewart descendant also. Bill Woodard billwood@mail.utexas.edu
