I am responding to this query because my wife's family [her mother's maiden name was Patterson] lived in Carter County in the early 1900s in Cheek, OK. In fact my wife's grandfather, David Snell Patterson was reported to have a general store in Cheek OK in the 1908-1917 time frame. My wife's aunt Ruth E. Patterson, who died at the afe of 18 months in 1917 is buried in the Hewitt Cemetery. My wife, Ruth was named for her.
