Hi, Does anyone know off hand how far Fox is from Healdton? And if someone died in Fox but was buried in Healdton Cemetery, why wouldn't they be there now? Anyone know of a road or bulldozing? Or of any Gee's buried in Fox or Healdton? How about knowledge of a Gee Hotel? Do you think this Lady could help on our search for Jim Raney...We just know that the killing was some where on Red River ,the year when Jackoline and James daughter Effie was born....late 1800...do you have her date?..Then perhaps we can figure where they were at the time ..near the Red River.... Do you think it may have been Bryan Co.....Had to have been along that River somewhere....What do you cousins think? Hi folks I'm from Nebraska and just "discovered" Carter - Love County. I'm wondering if anyone on the list has any knowledge to share about the history of Overbrook. I believe it was just across the border in Love County south of Ardmore. When was is settled - - who were the first settlers - - what about the first schools, churches, cemeteries, etc. Is there more than one Baptist church in/near Overbrook? Can anyone suggest reference books that might have information about early Overbrook? Does anyone recognize the name McAlister in the area pre-1893-94? Thanks, Kathy

Wendy! Thanks so much for your offer. I can only hope maybe my family is in there. These are the York's from that area from at least 1886 - not positive of the year but this is close. I know my grgrandfather wife and kids moved on in 1925 but I know a lot stayed. Joseph? YORK - first postmaster of YORK, I.T., OK from 1894 - 1914 (my grgrgrandfather) his son: General Jackson YORK - b. 1875 AL. lived in Carter Co. until 1925 another son: Lee O? YORK lived in Carter Co. until at least 1925 Joseph had at least 6 other children, I don't have names for yet. I don't know his wife's name yet either. I have STEWART's in south central OK also.
