Dear Lois: I searched the newspaper microfilm for any information - found only this. You will note that the name is listed as Williams, not Williamson. I was lucky to have found it - was on the classifed ad page, but I understand that years ago, obituaries were classified ads; paid for by the family. ********************************* Sun. Mar. 4, 1917 Veteran Died "Uncle Johnny" Williams, Confederate veteran, died about 6 o'clock Saturday evening at the Confederate Home. He was 87 years of age. Dear List: Could someone tell me the history of Sneed, Carter Co. - my mother told me and the 1900 census bears it out, that she was born near Healdton. I took the township and range information from the census to the Carter Co. assessor's office and they kindly pointed to the area on a map. It covered an area northeast of Healdton. Later I found a marriage certificate for a Great-Uncle and it says Sneed, Carter Co. This great-uncle lived near my grandfather, so am assuming that Sneed is where my mother was born. On a 1915 map Sneed is located northeast of Healdton. If anyone knows the history of the area, I would be so happy to add this to our family history book. Thanks in advance. Anna Marie.

I found Myrtle May Cowherd on March 16, 1993, but could not find Roy B. Cowherd on Sept 5, 1995. I looked from Sept 3rd through the 8th, and there was no obituary for him. I don't mean to question, but do you have the right date?? Myrtle May COWHERD Services for Myrtle May Cowherd will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Rev. Dan Patman officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Born to Joshua and Maude WARREN MATTHEWS July 31, 1897, at Bowie, Texas, Mrs. Cowherd died Monday at her home.
