I am distantly related to the person you are referencing. The family took a collection and put this later tombstone up for Grandma WHALEY. Diannah Hills FARRAR PRUITT THOMPSON WHALEY (b5-19-1806, d1-16-1894) is the person I am referring to. I lived at Fox/Ratliff City for 17 years and I never heard of this. Could it be FREEO Cemetery? I thought someone might know. Also if there was a wooden shelter, then four years later there was a new tombstone placed inside a ring of flat stones. Could this be an Oklahoma project of replacing headstones, or do you think there could be a relative still living there? The name I am seeking is Dinnah Pruitt. Married name could be Whaley. Believed to be a school teacher and died in 1894 Carter County. Thank you in advance. JAN BINNICKER NEE PIERCE

Dear List: I am trying to locate any family members (descendants or relatives) of Alonzo (Lonnie) McGehee, born 1885. He married Margaret (Maggie) Stamper in Carter Co., I.T. on Sept 20, 1904. Both families lived in the Sneed-Graham area of Northwestern Carter Co. Lonnie and Maggie had a daughter, Lillie, in 1907. We don't know what happened to Lonnie, but in 1910 Maggie was married to Will Utzman in Anadarko, Okla. and had a daughter, Thelma Hazel. Am also trying to find a link between the family of George C. (Cam) McGehee and Haram Marion McGehee and J.W. McGehee, all living in this area. They may be "possible" brothers of Lonnie. Any information on these families will be greatly appreciated. Kindest Regards, Anna Marie.
Posted on: Carter County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Carter/1214 Surname: GRIFFIN ------------------------- I posted on 22 June 2000 but thanks to a researcher from Lone Grove, Carter Co. I now have more Facts about my Grandfather, THOMAS GRIFFIN. Thomas GRIFFIN died of heart failure on 26 February 1909 in Carter Co. OK. He is buried in Lot 9 at Rose Hill Cemetery in an unmarked grave, however I am in the process of placing a marker on his grave in hopes his name will be added to the Rose Hill Cemetery list. Thomas was born in March 1851 in AL. and both his parents were born in SC. He married Olivia Sumpter MORRISON d/o Alexander Rhodes MORRISON and Louisa Davis HALE, in 1894 in either AL or North GA and they immediately migrated to Chickasaw Nation, later Carter Co. OK. Thomas GRIFFIN was a merchant and a farmer. Thomas also had two cousins, Jeff GRIFFIN and his sister Alice GRIFFIN COE and her husband Ben COE, living in Wilson, OK in 1909. After the death of Thomas GRIFFIN, his wife and 2 children continued to live in Ardmore, OK until the 1920's and then sold their land and moved to South Texas. It is possible there were other members of the MORRISON and GRIFFIN families that also migrated to OK in those early days. At this time I do not know the names of Thomas GRIFFIN's parents, however, I would very much like to find descendants of Jeff and Alice GRIFFIN COE's families as well as any other GRIFFIN Family members and share information with them. I will continue to post to this site as I find more information.
