    3. Vicki, Carter Co. has a great Gen. Library and a very helpful staff. I recently found my GG Grand father through them. They found the cemetery he was buried in as well as the funeral home who did the service. All this on my lunch hour! Armed with this info, I made a call to the funeral home and went home that evening with the burial record. The next day I went to the Chickasaw Library(again on my lunch hour) and found the obit in the micro film records of local newspapers. Will print your message and attempt to find the info for you next week. Posted on: Carter County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Carter/1288 Surname: Elliott, Brown ------------------------- Well Jackie, there weren't many records prior to Statehood. Unless I'm mistaken, the 1900 census is posted on the Love County forum (I should say hot-linked). Healdton wasn't the County seat for Carter CO, it is Ardmore. The County seat for Love CO is Marietta. That is where most records will be. Healdton was part of the Chickasaw Nation prior to Statehood as was Love CO. You may have some trouble getting everything you need. There are some folks in the area that most likely will respond to this quiery to provide help for you.

    3. Posted on: Carter County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Carter/1286 Surname: Elliott, Flemming, Brown ------------------------- I am trying to find where the Death Records would be for Jennie Elizabeth ELLIOTT 1FLEMMING. I dont know when she was born but other brothers and sisters were Doc ELLIOTT SR. born in 1891, Minnie ELLIOTT born in 1871, Bert Elliott born in 1905 and Jennie I dont know. Were all born in Love Co.Ok. Jennie had lived in Healdton,Oklahoma most of her life and beleive she was when she died and assuming the Court Records would be in Ardmore,Oklahoma. Would also like to know if they were any land records, probate records or any civil action records on file. The parents of these children were Elvira BROWN born January 12,1871 in Texas and she died November 29,1945 in Ardmore (pretty sure) Oklahoma and was buried in Lakeveiw Cemetery,Love Co,Oklahoma where the ELLIOTT family had lived all they're lives. Elvira was married to Rabourn ELLIOTT he was born also in Texas 1869 and he died 1904-1905 in Cooke Co.Texas and he is buried in the Burneyville Cemetery, but dont have any records of this to prove that. I would also like records for Elvira's death if they would happen to be in a Funeral Home in Ardmore where maybe the service was held before taking her to Love County,Marietta,Ok for burial. I am not sure of this. Elvira was the daughter of Dave Mark BROWN and Mary FOWLER of Texas and died in Texas. We have heard that the Indians killed them? Elvira and Rabourn had to of been in Burneyville,Ok about 1897 as they're daughter Minnie Ellen ELLIOTT was born there I would appreciate any help on this family. My Grandfather was Doc McHenry ELLIOTT and Grandmother,Annie Jane HILTON both of Marietta,Love County,Oklahoma. He was a son of Elvira BROWN and Rabourn ELLIOTT.

J. Briscoe, or how father and son had different names. Since you listed Henson as one of the surnames, I called a former Henson who has lived in Carter County all her life and read your message to her, and none of it sounded familiar to her. I can tell you two things that might help. First, the Orr Cemetery is not as close to Healdton as you stated. It is actually in LOVE COUNTY, FOURTEEN MILES SOUTH AND FOUR WEST OF HEALDTON. Second, if you go to the LOVE County OK geneology site, you can find a partial list of people buried in all the Love County cemeteries, with an alphabetical index. The cemetery is listed by number on the far right, and Orr cemetery is number 29. I have part of it that I printed off some time back, but it is all on Wards. If you don't find it, e-mail me and I'll try to look it up again.
