You can contact Bill Hamm at bhamm@brightok.net. He is the one who did all the cemetery listings in Carter County. Hope this helps.
I am trying to locate information on great-grandfather, William BenjaminPayne and grandfather John Benjamin Payne. William Benjamin Payne was born November 11, 1812 (location unknown)Died October 12, 1886 (location unknown) He had two marriages. First marriage had three know children with the initial of W.R., M.A. and C.M.M. Wife's name unknown. The second marriage was to an Indian whose initials were F.F.M. and they had two know children. John Benjamin Payne(my grandfather) born November 21, 1858 in Mississippi. Died February 2, 1906 and buried in Crinerville Cemetery, Carter County, OK. The other child was G.A. Payne. Childers, born Claiborne County, Tennessee, March 17, 1846 (some records show the year as 1845). He died in Carter County, OK. February 23, 1933 at the Confederate Soldiers home in Ardmore. I've been trying to locate the death certificate. Okla. Vital Statistics can find no record. I understand most of the records for the soldiers home were inadvertently picked up by a trash truck and most were lost. On the funeral warrant the name of the funeral chapel is not to clear, but appears to be either Betic or Betlic Funeral Home Chapel. The Clergyman was Wm. Lee Rector. Would you happen to know the name of the funeral home and if they are not still in business who might have the records? Also what church had a Wm Lee Rector as a minister? I know that she is buried in the Tussy, OK cemetery. She died in 1915. She was married to John Lindsy Cross. I have written the OK Vital Records for her death certificate but they were unable to find it. I have been told that the courthouse in Garvin/Carter County burned and I assume the records were lost. Do you have any suggestion of where I might find any info on her? I know that my grandfather was a member of the Oddfellows (I have copies of his dues payments for several years in the 1920s) at Tussy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My main effort is to find Jessie Bell's mother's name and I was hoping to find it on her death certificate. Thanks for any help you can give me. Sandy
