Which Holly was this? My Martin Pool PRATER, b c1846 near Sparta, White Co., TN came to OK IT c1870s, m Rose Linberg PRATER b1879 OK IT. Martin, who was the son of Josiah PRATER bc1804, supposedly came out to OK with a brother but I have never been able to figure out who that brother was, or perhaps it was a cousin? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Turknett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UYB.2ACE/1459 Message Board Post: My great grandfather, Thomas Porter Turknett was born in Fox, Carter County, Oklahoma in 1893. I don't know his exact birthdate. His brother William Henry Turknett was also born there on Jul. 7, 1892. I understand that their mother was Mattie LuLu Johnston Turknett and their father was John Porter Turknett. I am interested in investigating a family story of a half-Cherokee girl who may have been Mattie who married into the family. The girl's parents met on the Trail of Tears, her mother being a Cherokee who was forced to walk and her father being a soldier who was one of many escorting the Indians to Oklahoma. If you have any suggestions how I can go about finding out more about Mattie and her parents, please let me know. Mattie and John were very possibly married in Oklahoma, also. Thank You, Patricia S. Most of the stores were on the highway that goes to Ardmore. I went to school with Eddie Bray but can not remember any Reeves. The families in Hewitt during the fifties were the Becks, Chandlers, Taylors, Wadkins, Cannon, Alexander, Perry, Colletts, Todds, Cowans, Chance, and the Stearns lived there during the 30's. There was a boarding house in Hewitt around 1920 as my grandfather was supposed to have lived in it around 1919.
