F. Son in this city, at the advanced age of 82 years. Deceased was born on a farm near Sedalia, Cooper County, Mo. in 1830 and up until 11 years ago lived continuously in the state of his birth. He came from the hardy pioneer stock that wrested the middle-west from wilderness and by energy and indomnitable will-power cleared the path for the country's advancement. At the early age of eighteen Mr. Son became a member of the Baptist church and for sixty-eight years was a devout and consistent member of that christian body. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza J. Harris of Pisgah, Mo., November 13, 1851. She together with eleven of the twelve children who were born to them survive his loss. For the five years immediately preceding his death Mr. Son and his wife had made their home with Dr. J. F. Son in Ardmore. One child, Mrs. Rebecca Weiser of Durant preceded her father to the grave six years ago. Dr. G. W. Son of Thayer, Mo.; J. W. Son of Aurora Springs, Mo.; Dr. T. A. Son of Bonne Terre [St. Francois County], Mo.; Mrs. Nannie Stark of Kennendale, Texas; J. H. Son of Granite City, Mo., Dr. J. F. Son of Ardmore, Ok.; D. W. Son of Milburn, Okla, Mrs. Jennie Corster of Mansfield, Tex.; Mrs. Maggie Bradford of Ardmore, Okla.; Mrs. Annie McGinus of Snyder, Okla., are the surviving children. Mrs. Griffin, 75, of Overbrook, Okla., formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) in Ardmore, Okla. She was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Oswalt, Okla., a daughter of J.A. "Bill" and Eula Maude (Carlyle) Cox. On March 24, 1941, in Wilson, Okla., she married Frank Griffin, who survives. They lived in the Oswalt area until 1965, when they moved to Oregon. They moved back to Oklahoma several times, making their final move in 1982. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Janie Pollard, Medford, Diane Holcomb, Prospect, and Barbara Ellison, Healdton, Okla.; three sons, Mark and Keith, both Trail, and Billy, Butte Falls; three sisters, Faye McComber and Sue Chambers, both Ardmore, Okla., and JoAnn Hyder, Wilson, Okla.; four brothers, Bob and Jack Cox, both Ardmore, Okla., Dean Cox, Lone Grove, Okla., and Jim Cox, Plano, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one adopted granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and David; two sisters, Aleta Gray and Juanita Dane; three brothers, W.G. "Hap" Cox, Delbert L. Cox, and C.A. "Punch" Cox; and two grandsons. Son of Leroy Brannon and Ruby Irene (Redfern) Brannon. Mom was the daughter or H.E. Redfern raised around Nowata OK. was the youngest of four sisters, Lucieta, Maudie, Callie, and Beatrace. I know my Grandmother was a Willingham and I had relatives around the Sapaupla OK area. I think Mom was born in Claremore OK, not sure. I do know she spoke of the Willinghams a lot. She passed away April of 2000.
