Surnames: Barker, Hanks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UYB.2ACE/1524 Message Board Post: G-g-grandpa, Jesse Barker, was said to have been half Indian. Born 1830 in Mississippi and moved to the Oklahoma reservation prior to being 9 yrs of age. Went back from Texas to the Carter County area between 1880 until his death about 1897. Is there anything, anywhere that might help me find where he was buried or any info on the Barkers in the Carter area. One son married a girl by the name of Hanks whos family also lived in the area. 1. [OKCarter] Choctaw descent - father's name Runny Jennings - need help
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jennings, Meu, Loford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UYB.2ACE/1523 Message Board Post: I am trying to help my brother-in-law with research on his family. He is of Chocktaw decent from Ardmore, Carter Co. OK. His father's name was Runny Jennings, born Sept. 1893. The information he has is that a family found Runny alone at age 3. It was later discovered that his parents were dead from smallpox. Runny was adopted by a family named Brown, apparently with the consent of a female sibling. The only other information is the name Meu Loford or Loford Meu, and the date February 23,????. I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to conduct a search. I don't know where to start or what contacts to make. I have no idea what records might be available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much! Joan Mikels

    3. W.L., I can offer some help with your note from the Dawes Commission. Rector, James H. Tribe, Choctaw Record: Enrollment Age 55 Enrollment: By Blood (Choctaw citizen by blood.....marriage to a Choctaw) Blood %I/W ( there is no blood quantum listed and the I/W stands for intermarried white. He was apparently a white man married to a Choctaw woman ) Card # 5810 ( this is the Choctaw census card that the family is listed on) It will list parents of the husband and wife, the children, others who lived with them at the time, ages, blood quantum, district they lived in, etc. I can help you locate this card free of charge if you want to but please contact me off list. Roll # NR ( I truly don't know what this represents but it would seem that at the time of this note, he did not have a roll number.) perhaps someone on the list can shed some light on this. 1. [OKCarter] Choctaw Enrollment Card
    2. Hello List, I have been unable to locate Downs on my little map. I have seen a list of one of the "runs" listing three Rectors from Downs. Now my grandfather, James H. Rector, had three sons by his first wife -- a Choctaw woman and I believe these men listed might be his sons.. I also have a note from the Daws Enrollment that reads: Rector, James H. Tribe, Choctaw Record: Enrollment Age 55 Enrollment: By Blood Blood %I/W Card # 5810 Roll # NR This was not dated. Could someone please tell me what all this means and give some information on obtaining more information? Thank you, W.L. Barker

He died in Anderson Co., in 1893. Charles Granville's brother Daniel B. may have come to Texas with him the first time. from Sherma Raymond dsray1938@aol.com There is a publication "Pioneers of Anderson County,Texas" which has more information on Charles Granville Stewart and his offspring. The ANDERSON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY is on line, and may be able to help, as will I, and "cousin" Sherma Raymond. Her husband is a Stewart descendant also. Bill Woodard billwood@mail.utexas.edu
