> whether there is an active gensoc If we can't locate the info, we should enlist the help of those on mailing list - OKGenWeb, Texahoma, etc. Many on the mailing list are more than willing to help. Some of the counties just don't have genealogical societies. If you don't find an address, it would be a good plan to say so on the page and not leave the visitor wondering. Mike Taylor maintains a list of Genealogical Societies with online pages at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okpontot/ogs.htm and Gene Phillips has a list of societies at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/2596/genesocieties.html I'm sure both would appreciate our help updating their information. > contact for the Cotton County gensoc asked that her e-mail address be > removed from the page as she was receiving more questions than she > could answer in a timely mannner. Think we all understand her feeling. Online pages and email addy aren't necessary, but we should at least have the mailing address available to the visitor. > I just heard from the treasurer of the Johnston County gensoc who said > that her phone number is NOT available. LeFlore Co. Gen Soc is the same way - she doesn't even publish a phone number in the newsletter nor is there a listing in the phone book. If they don't publish a number for phone contact, neither should we. Marti
