Sharon Crawford - (Marti read below) Got the link to the Pontoto County Historical Society page put in. You girls are always so artistic! Looks great! (I'm jealous!) In the cemeteries page, you list the cemeteries that have been indexed, but have no instructions on how one can obtain copies. I get a lot of messages from people wanting to know how to get this information. Are these available by cemetery, or in one single publication for all cemeteries? Would people write to the PCHS and request copies? Cost? Would they be interested in putting this information on their new web page? Also, a question that will need to be asked eventually - Is there a need to have two pages? A PCHS page and a OKGenWeb Pontotoc Co. page? Why could not the pages be combined? Obviously, this question goes beyond the confines of Pontotoc Co. Could local Historical/Genealogy Societies be an integral part of the USGenWeb and not just a "Link"? Could be room for philosophical debate here! Also, is there a problem with putting a local Genealogy Society web page on the Rootsweb server? One of the charter items for the USGenWeb I think is to publish and make Genealogy information available and free over the Web. This might conflict with charters of local Genealogical Societies and erode their source of funds that they so sorely need. I have no qualms over web authorship issues; just what is best for the consumers. Personally, I would like to see all Genealogy data on the web and free for all to use. But, many Genealogy Societies have 'locks' on their data by way of Copyrights. Is this gridlock?
