Hi everyone - Tonight [Sunday] we are going to attempt an OKGenWeb IRC chat at 8pm CST. Our first attempt using IRC - so everyone is invited for general chat and learning experience. How to join the OKGenWeb IRC Chat For those of you that have not yet downloaded the IRC software or have no idea what we are talking about, IRC provides the capability for you to connect to a chat session and exchange thoughts and ideas, etc. Download the mIRC software to your computer. You will find mIRC at - http://www.mirc.com/ or http://www.shareware.com/ Load the program to a directory (folder) on your computer. Then while connected to the Internet, activate the mIRC program. from the mIRC setup window click Add Enter the following info into each slot: Description: Rootsweb IRC server : irc.rootsweb.com Port(s) : 6667 Click Ok >From here click connect [top left corner - looks like a lighting bolt] to hook up to the IRC server. Once you are connected simply type /join #okgenweb and you will be connected to the chat location where everyone will be located. It is really pretty simple If you get disconnected during the chat, just log back on and rejoin. Look forward to seeing you there tonight. Marti -- Marti Graham, OKGenWeb State Coordinator
