Greetings, I have been asked to give a talk at the Annual Oklahoma Cemetery Association meeting in June. I'm trying to put together a topic and talk. Are there problems any of you have with cemeteries that I could address? Do you have any suggestions how we as genealogist could help cemeteries? Are there cemeteries that you know of in your county that need assistance cleaning them up, that you'd like to canvass or have a scout troop looking for a community project? The lady that asked me to give the talk is trying to have a survey done by the cemeteries as to their age, which is nice to know if your looking for someone, if the cemetery is still active and selling lots, has any ethnic, family division or specializes in particular burials. (cremation, box, above ground etc.) My main reason for accepting this talk is to try to build a good relationship with the cemeteries in Oklahoma by genealogist so the doors, gates and records will be and remain open to us.
