[Permission to forward where appropriate is granted. ] Subject: Slave Narrative Collection (WPA) Thanks to the tireless efforts of Charmaine Keith, I am pleased to announce another statewide resource for the Oklahoma researcher - Slave Narratives from the Federal Writers' Project, 1936-1938. The Slave Narrative Collection that has been transcribed as they were written. The language and descriptive portions are as the interviewer transcribed them for the narrative collection; writing the language as spoken by the people they interviewed. We strongly recommend that you read the information from the Library of Congress explaining the language used in these interviews. This is a work in progress and will include interviews [approx 130] from both the Library of Congress and Oklahoma Historical Society. If you have one of these interviews currently not online, you are encouraged to submit the interview for inclusion in this online source. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/collection/narrative/about.htm Marti OKGenWeb SC http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/
