It looks to me like if you would use the time that you are using to quarrel and complain about having to do this that you would have had time to have already had your pages updated. Just my two cents worth. Earline

    3. Ok, I guess the concensus is...I'll go through and put "last update" on all the pages, whether they ever are or not. But, a lot of those last updates will be the original page date, which will still show it hasn't been updated since 1997, 98, 99, 2000, 2001. That should bring that particular item into compliance for future evaluations, if I understand it correctly. One other item, just for clarification, the pages, articles, submitted by others, are they ok with just the submission/page date? I'm not trying to be picky or onery about this. Just needed to know the whys and wherefores to be sure. ~~}:^) Ethel ===== ^*^*^*^*^**^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* List Admin - ASHLEY-L, CRISP-L, PRINCE-L, OKKIOWA-L <a href=http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4231/>ASHLEY, CRISP, PRINCE</a> <a href=http://rebelcherokee.tripod.com/okkiowa.html>Kiowa Co. 3. Vickie, my cemetery pages have "date transcribed" and web page date. only rarely have I gotten a note from someone about a family member buried in that cem, that either has the wrong date ( dates are from the tombstones)or need an initial changed, etc. When I change it, I change the date. Since I live in OR, I can't go every year to each cem. in Kiowa Co. and check for updates. I have 3 cemeteries I'm trying to get typed in now, and 2 more in Kiowa Co. to transcribe, so when I get to OK, The time I have, I work on the ones I don't have transcribed so far. I have 19 online now, which have taken me 5 years to do. Ethel --- Vickie Neill Taylor <[email protected]> wrote: > Cemeteries...text or otherwise...need to have a > date. 3. Ron, I don't use an editor. I build the pages in my wp, then copy and paste them up, then fine tune them (straighten up the columns, make sure the lines don't run too long, etc.). If I do run across something pertaining to that info, I add it to the page and change the date. For instance, on my Kiowa Co. Cattle trails page that I have had up for 3/4 years, I ran across some links to more info on Doan's Crossing. I added these links, then changed the date. ANother page, i.e., About the last Kiowa Sundance, is a brochure written by a Kiowa elder, that will never be updated, as he knew more about the Sundance than I do. That's what I meant by, couldn't the reader tell if it was an un-updatable page? 3. David, <Some folks have no clue about anything> I find this to be the gospel truth. A lot of people should not be allowed close to a computer! I get questions about things that are clearly posted on the index page. THEY WON"T LOOK! They want to be spoon fed the info. I will get a question and I will answer it 10 ways from Sunday so there will be no confusion and I will get an immediate reply that asks the question that was just answered. They will not even read the emails completely! There is an incredible amount of information on my county website not counting all the links to other websites. I have a friend that told me one night he was just going to try and see everything that was on the website. He said he gave up after 3 hours. NO CLUE is exactly how to describe some of these people. 1. [OK-Coordinators] Updates
    2. Charmaine Keith
    3. (cut from Linda's message) However, be that as it may, it's not my decision. If I'm going to have an OK county then I'll abide by the rules and add the information to each of my pages as requested. Linda Thank you Linda, well stated!! I believe that most of the programs we are using to create our pages, has the availability to add updates that you can set to be placed anywhere on a page that you want it. Using this would make it very easy, updates are automatically set every time we work with a page. One other thought. Many of our researchers have any idea what the differences are between a text page and a html page. So with the updates added to the pages they at least know if new information has been added or not. If we would all set back and think about our beginning computerized genealogy, and the number of hours we spent reviewing pages, just to realize that nothing had been added sence our last visit to the page. As a researcher I don't want to spend my time reviewing a page that has had nothing added to it, when I could be checking out other pages that do have new items on them. Updates are to help your researchers! 3. Cemeteries...text or otherwise...need to have a date. If they are recorded in 1998 then you can be pretty sure that your great Uncle Joe that died in 2000 is not going to be listed there. You might also be surprised how many message I get saying "would you add my Uncle Joe". Even test pages may be updated more often than some realize! Sorry, I only have $ .01.
