Rebecca, What are we looking for? I checked the pages with IE5 and OPERA6, the results follow: > Obits > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/wauobits9901.htm IE: I see a 3 column table aligned on the left. 1st two columns are left aligned, the third is centered. The background of the page shows thru the table cells. Looks fine to me. However you might want to break the extremly large table into smaller tables so the page loading will appear faster. Better yet, as large as the page is you might want to split it up into smaller pages. People on dial up connections would appreciate the smaller file / table size. I've got dsl and didn't even notice how large the page is until David called attention to it. OPERA: sees the page the same as IE > Updated and added to - Waurika Names in the News: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/waunamesinnews1.htm IE: Looks to be a two column table left aligned with no borders. Other than a lot of space between lines it looks ok however, you could increase it to 3 columns (but that's just a picky observation :)) Would recommend you either break the table into smaller ones or make multiple pages. OPERA: sees it pretty much as IE does. > List of businesses in 1943 > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/waubusads.htm IE: Again, looks fine (you might want to use <br> instead of <p> to keep the lines closer together tho. OPERA: Same as IE > Waurika High School graduates - 1943 > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/whsgrads1943 IE: The graphic at the top and bottom of the page is missing. Other than that the page looks great! The indention and close line spacing makes it very easy to read and follow. To me, the best looking page of the group. OPERA: Same as IE. What's the other fellow seeing? Or more specifically, what are you intending to be seen that he isn't? Ron
David...the one I am really having problems with is this one: Waurika High School graduates - 1943 > > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/whsgrads1943 > > This was uploaded as a binary. You need to reload as ASCII Hopefully you found the problem when you said "This was uploaded as a binary. You need to reload as ASCII" Your other comment: Updated and added to - Waurika Names in the News: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/waunamesinnews1.htm Is this page really 380 kb? whew! On my hard drive it shows as 132k. Thanks for taking a look at the files in question. Sheridan

That's just the page name. whsgrads1948 - I had to change the file name because FTP seems picky about capital letters and such - or it's R.W. But the gif she's talking about is the sephras(?) one I put on all the pages. It's the divider with a grape leaf - green. \ Becky ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ernest Drowatzky" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 19, 2002 2:07 PM Subject: Re: [OK-Coordinators] help?? > Marti...I'm a novice. I'll split those files. I have old fashioned dial up. No chances any time soon of DSL in this area. Heck, we don't even have Voice Mail or Caller I.D. yet! So, I certainly see your point - Ron's and David's, too. David, Thanks for looking. Sheridan has a Mac. I have WinMe. Not sure if this makes a difference. Also, when I upload things with FTP, I check auto - so it covers both forms. This happens all the time. It gets all messed up when I try to save the file, put on a webpage (frontpage 2000) and upload with FTP, with Sheridans formats. Any suggestions?? Help?? I'm real sick of trying to get this stuff up on the pages over and over again and it's still messed up. I won't be fixing it today but will try to Monday. Oh, and BTW, all the pages look fine from here. Go figure. Again thanks for any help you and/or anyone can give us. I think we're both about to give up! It's very frustratingn, eh, Sheridan?? Folks - just to let you know I will doing a complete reload of the OKGenWeb pages today. Various pages at any given time during the day may be unavailable to you. I have worked very hard to prevent broken links, but in some cases it was impossible. Please wait 24 hours to report links that are not working. If you need to report a link *please* use this format to make my work easier. SUBJECT: Broken Link URL of page where link is broken What you clicked on that returned a broken link Many thanks, Marti

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I had not as yet checked out this link. What a nice idea. It is nice to be appreciated even when you love what you are doing. I do want to point out that anyone who has canvassed/transcribed or worked on a cemetery for the Garvin County site in any way does have their names listed with their work so I am not sure what Kim Davis means by 'maybe I can put their names on the site'. I always try to give people credit for their work as I feel it encourages others who see it to submit their records or get involved in such projects. I will put a link to this appreciation thing on my site this weekend!
