    2. Brenda Choate
    3. Mike Grissom tells me that Old Wetumka Cemetery is being destroyed by the land owner, to make pasture land. There is a William Robinson buried there who was Creek. He was Colonial and commanded an entire Creek regiment during the Civil War and was a very important man. Graves located near him are Benson and Barnetts. Mike says about 2/3 of the cemetery is already gone. Does anyone have any ideas about how to stop this and save the remainder of this cemetery and/or perhaps get info on what became of the tombstones this farmer removed. Shouldn't the Native American Graves Protection Act cover this? Does anyone know anything about this cemetery? Perhaps the destruction was done a few years back and has been stopped already? We would appreciate any help you can give us. You can reach Mike at [email protected] He seems to think the remainder of this cemetery is in immediate danger and is trying to contact the Muskogee Creek Nation to see what they can do, but so far, they are not returning his calls. 3. Unfortunately, I went this route once and it only applies of federal land. It does not apply to privately owned land. I don't know what to do about this situation until we band together and get the legislation that is before my state representative Danny Hilliard. There is nothing that can be done until some legislation is on the books. 3. Well, one thing I want to make clear is I don't have more time to devote to this. I have 2 counties - one in TX and one in OK, a site The Url of York, and my own personal website to maintain. Plus, an 11 yr. old son at home. School is out next week here. I'm already always in hot water for the time I DO spend on the computer :-) So if it requires more time - I would have to 'resign'. I would imagine Sharon C. is pretty maxed out with her free time, also. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 5:19 PM Subject: Re: [OK-Coordinators] votes !!
