The new home for the ok-civil-war list is ready to go. In a few minutes, I'll send out personal invitations to the subscribers of this list who wish to join the new group will be able to do so. I can not add members directly. It should be a link you can click that will let you 'accept' the invitation to join the new group. You may need to check your spam folder as I can't say when such will be delivered. If you don't find an invitation in your email you may also go to this site - https://groups.io/g/OK-CIVIL-WAR and select Join Group. You may post to this list today, but it all ends tomorrow, 3/2. Tim Stowell
As of now, the ok-civil-war list has 68 subscribers. In light of Rootsweb's decision to close this list and every other list on March 2nd, with the permission of the current list owner, a friend and I have set up a new home for this list. In my next email, I'll send you further information regarding this and how to join the new home for this list. Tim Stowell Chattanooga
As you may have noticed, Rootsweb mail lists are back on-line! I hope everyone will begin utilizing this list and the many others available at Rootsweb. If you have any questions about this list please fee free to send me a message! There are still some bugs to be worked out. The mailing list is still text only and attachments are not allowed. You can now manage your own account to make changes to how the mail list works for you. However to do that you will need to set up an account. This is to make the mailing lists more secure from outsiders trying to harvest email addresses. David, thanks for the info. I am filing your post. I am beginning to think that the Dr. Morse that I am looking at might be John Curtis's grandfather. Just a thought. Pamela, his first name was Elias Curtis. Thanks for the link to the surgeons board. I have learned that he was probably an herbalist. FYI - the only male "Morse" from the era that I've found buried in Stephens County, OK in my walks of all the cemeteries there is: Morse, Washington G. b.8/24/1835; d.9/22/1921. His wife's name was F. S. (b.2/24/1860; d.4/10/1909). There is a Masonic mark on his gravestone. His grave is in the Cruce Cemetery on roughly the 6th row from the north end of the cemetery. I didn't know if this might be kin or not, but thought I'd pass it along for whatever it's worth. Hello, all. We are putting together a website for all oklahoma veterans and have a little information on it. The page is located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okvets/okvets.htm We have some photos of some of the Civil War re-enactments from Oklahoma. We will be posting updates to this website from time to time. If you have information you would like to see on this website about a Civil War vet or any Oklahoma Veteran, please contact us. I have also added a message board to this website. I would like to thank Donna Dreyer, Linda Simpson, Sue Tolbert and Lola Withrow for helping me with this site.
