    3. I am seeking information on Pleasant Mound and Jolly Knob which were located in Pickens Co, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Today this particular area would be in SE Carter Co and NE Love Co. My paternal grandmother was born in 1906 in her parents' house at Legate and her brother was born in the same house in 1904. He swore to his death this fall he was born at Pleasant Mound. He also claimed it had a even earlier name. In "Hisotry of Love County," a Shields family biography tells of the kids walking to school at Pleasant Mound which was near Hoxbar and Jolly Knob. My relatives, that the Shields were friends with, lived less than a half mile south of the Legate school at statehood. An aunt died in 1899 and her place of death was listed as 2 miles NW of Wilson, I.T. Services to be held at Pleasant Mound and burial to follow at Pleasant Mound Cemettery. An even more brief record from another funeral home stated she died and would be buried at Legate cemetery. A posting in "The Ardmoreite" says a resident of Wilson communtiy came to purchase a coffin for this aunt to be buried in the next day at Pleasant Mound. Wilson was east of Hoxbar and was a P.O. from 1888-1907; Hoxbar was a P.O. from 1895-1926; and Legate became a P.O. in 1905-1921. The Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore, OK, doesn't show any listings of burials at Pleasant Mound after 1904. Did Pleasant Mound become Legate? Where waa Jolly Knob located in this triangle of Hoxbar, Wilson and Legate? I would appreciate any input on these communities. Harold in New Orleans Okie by Birth
