I did not mean to cause any problems with my statement about giving a place and name and date with each query. I simply think it is inappropriate, when someone says they will do look ups for a specific county, to ask them to look up someone who is obviously not buried in that county. For example, the querist who has relatives buried in Muskogee County towns asking for a look up from the person who offered to look up Garfield County burials. If the querist had looked at a state map or Rand McNally atlas, he/she would have seen that Muskogee County was the area being researched. Mahlon Erickson
Dear List Members, I also agree that if you know of an area or a county or the name of a cemetery when you ask for lookup, please give it. It will save the volunteer much time. If you do not know of an area, a county or name of a cemetery - let the volunteer know that you are not even sure what county it is in but you think........ This way the volunteer knows up front that they are just checking for a hope that your ancester is there.
