    1. [OK-CEM] Rossville Cemetery, Lincoln Co., OK
    2. Janice, My husband and I ran over to Rossville this evening. I found 4 graves with the Manass name, including one I believe is your gr-grandfather, in the Rossville Cemetery. The graves are about 150 ft. South of the center gate, on the West side. In the first row of graves is a white stone, about 2 ft. high with a curved top. The inscription reads: In Loving Memory Sadie B. dau. of A. H. & I. F. D. Maness Born Jun 5 1903 (Hard to read, could be Jan) Died Sep 10 1906 In the second row, directly west of Sadie is a gray upright stone. The inscription reads: A. T. Maness Jan 30, 1854 Oct 28, 1927 At Rest The next stone north is similar and reads: Mary Maness July 27, 1851 Nov 5, 1936 At Rest There is enough space for a couple of graves, but no stones, then another stone similar to the previous two, except it has a large carved rose on the flat top. I think this is your gr-grandfather. It reads: A. P. Maness July 15, 1892 April 16, 1927 Gone, but not forgotten There is usually an alphabetical listing of all the graves in a glass case under a pavilion across the road from the cemetery. This is also owned by the cemetery. The list and case were gone when we went over there today. I would guess that the trustees are updating the list before Memorial Day. We have some really good people who take very good care of this cemetery and keep the records up to date. There is always a big gathering there on Sat., Sun, and Mon. of Memorial Day week-end, and there is usually one of the trustees around to take donations for the upkeep of the grounds, improvement to the pavilion, etc. After they have decorated the graves of loved ones, folks just sit around on benches and talk about old times while the kids play. When I get back over there I will check the list and see if there are any more with the Maness name and find out who is on the board of trustees these days. In case you don't have the location of the cemetery, it is 4 miles north of U.S. 62 on U.S. 177, and then 1/2 mile west on a dirt road. There is a big (although faded) sign on 177 on the Northwest corner. The cemetery is on the South side of the road, w/ the pavilion and restrooms on the North side. Have a good day, Jean
