Iron Stob is a small community about 7 miles west of Idabel in McCurtain County. The map calls it Iron Stob Corner, but none of the locals call it that. Don't see a cemetery nearby on the map. Can anyone tell me if there is a cemetery for a town no longer in existence. Fred Dittmyer was kind enough to locate the location of the town of Cruce in Stephens County (also one in Grant County but my interest is in Stephens County). There was a post office there from 1910 to 1932. I am looking for relatives who lived in Cruce during that time. Fred says sthe town was located 8 miles Northeast of Duncan. Thanks. Actually, there is a cemetery near Iron Stob Corner. The Oklahoma Wildlife Federation printed a topographical county map some years ago that shows cemeteries. The map shows Iron Stob Corner 7 miles west of Idabel on Highway 37 and the cemetery is less than a mile north of the highway on the east side of the road. According to the map, there is also a church across the street from the cemetery.
