    3. The following query was sent to me. Have any of you run into this same problem and if you have, were you able to solve it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom Kathleen, Can you tell me if a funeral home can refuse you access to your grandparents records? I was told it is private information and they could get sued if they gave it out. Is there any law against a grandchild getting the information? These records are 75-100 years old. I asked if I could at least see the index and was told NO. The only way I could get info on death and burial on these folks. The vital records can not find the right ones. I don't want to name the funeral home but it is located in Pawnee County, OK Thanks, Raymonda Allen

    3. I have in the past and am currently transcribing funeral home records from two old funeral homes in Oklahoma City. The funeral home who maintains these old records allowed me to take the records from their office to transcribe them. There was no question as to legality with my request. Perhaps a quick call to the Oklahoma Embalmer and Funeral Director Board in Oklahoma City would clear this issue up. Their phone number is (405) 522-1790. Their address is 4545 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105. 3. I have visited funeral homes in various places in OK. Have never been refused. There is no law about them. Our local ones have been very open with us and give us free access to what we ask for. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathleen Burnett" <kathleenburnett@earthlink.net> To: <OK-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 16, 2003 11:19 AM Subject: [OK-CEM] Funeral Home Records > The following query was sent to me.
