    3. I think that a lot of people purchased these certificates. I have a copy of one that one of my uncles had purchased in the early 1920's. Back then, companies like American National (I believe) sold insurance policies for as little as 25 cents or so a week. The burial policies were done in the same vein. In our economy today, the policies would be useless.
