    1. [OK-CEM] Okla Death Certificates
    2. I was at the Oklahoma Health Department, Oklahoma City requesting 4 death certificates, one 1909, 1917, 1919 and 1926. $10.00 each. (I do not live in Oklahoma) I have pictures of these 4 people's grave stones with birth and death dates on them and all 4 obituaries. I have been there many times, I am beginning to believe I just-- -- by now-- -- may own it as I have spent enough money over the years :>) Ha! I none of the 4 death certificates were found, but when they do not find a death certificate for that person, they do give you a letter that is good for 6 months for another search, no charge, if you can find any new information that will help find that death certificate. I do not know if they do this when a request for a death certificate is mailed in. I was there in person. I have never mailed one in to them. This last time, in March, the gentleman that helped me (take my money and applications) told me they were setting up a new way for them to search their death records. He said by this summer (that would be about now) they were hoping to have the new system up and running. The new search method will be the same system as we all use when searching the census SOUNDEX. He went to explaining how a SOUNDEX was used--------but I told him, wow, I use the census SOUNDEX AND UNDERSTOOD HOW IT WORKS. In fact, he sent my 4 back through as part of the new SOUNDEX system was being use, it does take longer, but I was really satisfied this time that a good search was done. He came up with one death certificate for the same exact name, different county, but, CRUD, IT WAS NOT MINE as the age was 40 years off, born in a different state, died in a different Oklahoma County and different wife. Each time I have been there I see people go to a certain window with documents and they are from Funeral homes that are filing death notices with the state. But that is now----not back when I want a death certificate. I have been so disappointed many times and very happy when a death certificate has been found. So it has been up and down. I am hoping their new SOUNDEX SYSTEM is completed, this will be a great new change for searching for death certificates at the Oklahoma Health Department. Jay yaerohs@aol.com
