Jay, my experience with Okla. was this:I was looking for death certificate for my husband's gdmother. We had date of death and picture of her headstone which read ,Lizzie Parsons. I sent for Lizzie or Elizabeth Parsons,nothing. Then I sent all the pertinent info that I had,on her death, burial place name of husband,survivors,Etc. I got back her death certificate which read, American Elizabeth Parsons!So, send everything you can because sometimes one of the survivors is who signed the death certificates' info.We didn't know that her name was American.Many of the older people went by nick-names and were buried under their rightful names or vice versa.Last year I spoke to the daughter of my gt-uncle.Told her I had a copy of their marriage license and who signed for them to get married. The gt-aunts' name was Sarah Elizabeth.She told me that wasn't so that her mother was Bettie and that's how she was buried.My gt-gdmother and Sarah Elizabeths' (Bettie)mother had signed for them to marry but she was very hard to convince.I have been known as Sue all my life but my given name is Beverly Juanita so ask around and see if anyone remembers a nick-name.Hope this will help someone.It's very frustrating. I sent for my uncles birth certicate three times with no results. His name according to my gdmother,his mother, was Paul Leon.Finally I sent for his death certificate which gave his name birth and death date.On his birth and death certificate he was Paul,no middle name.I sent for an aunt'r death certificate in Okla .I know for a fact that her name was Amanda H.(hester) I finally found her in the social security index as Manda L.(Louise. She was named after two aunts, Amanda and Hester Louise.As Hester got older she started using Louise and was known as aunt Lou. So I guess somewhere along the way Amanda's name got changed from Hester to Louise. Maybe she never knew for sure. Just that she was named for this aunt.Anyway in each case it was the correct person because all the family info, parents spouses,etc was included.BJM(Sue) Sincerely, An iPhone User
