I checked with the Fairview Funeral Home and they told me that Mr. Ingram (Charles I think) took the records with him when he left Fairview. I have received an email from a group member reminding us that crime can occur anyplace. I have heard of and read about many victims who were physically attacked or had valuables taken from their cars while in cemeteries. To everyone who does research in cemeteries, please be careful. Here are some helpful hints to protect yourself. 01) Lock your purse or wallet in the car trunk or in a safe place in your vehicle. I take only my drivers license, keys and camera when I go to the cemetery. As well as a few dollars (never anything over a $20) if I need fuel or something to drink; 02) Always have someone go with you and in daylight. Don't go in the evening just before the cemetery locks up (if it is locked), you can easily be locked up yourself; 03) Be totally aware of your surroundings. Take a look at other cars and people around you. Make eye contact if you can or have to, an attacker doesn't like to be looked at because he/she can be identified; 04) If you see anyone acting oddly or lingering around other cars, contact the cemetery staff (if there is one) or contact the police/sheriff immediately. Do not attempt to confront the person yourself; 05) Let someone know of your schedule. Leave a message or messages with family and/or friends where you are going and when you expect to be back; 06) HAVE FUN!! Wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes. If you are not use to it, take your time, and don't try and do your research in one day. Evelynne Guthrie, OK
