1. Re: [OK-CEM] RENTIE GROVE CEMETERY, TULSA
2. Marian, I'm so sorry, but I don't know of a specific Indian Burial Ground in the Skiatook area. I know, here in southern Tulsa County, there are many small Indian Burial grounds that are unmarked. Many times, if they're on private land, it's much better to get someone who knows the owner to go with you to investigate. I know that sometimes researchers are not too welcomed prowling around in Indian cemeteries. My sister and I have run across that often. I would suggest writing to the Tulsa Historical or Tulsa Genealogical societies. They both have websites, too, and you can write them, but unfortunately I don't have either of their e-mail addresses right at my fingertips. Skiatook is just far enough away from where I live and do my research (the "other" side of Tulsa) that I don't get up there at all. I mostly hang out in the Jenks/Bixby/Glenpool and even Sapulpa in Creek County areas. Thanks so much for writing, and I hope you can get into the website. We have quite a bit of neat stuff posted! Have a wonderful holiday season! Blessings, Susan Strain <>< "Kinfolk Korner"

3. Tried to go to your site and it would not open. Will keep the address and try again later. Do you or anyone know anything about the burial of Indian or part Indian people in the early 1900's in Oklahoma. My children's great-grandmother, Edna (Morgan( Thomas) wife of William Lewis Thomas Sr. was born 1885 in Iowa and died 6 April 1911 in Skiatook, Osage County, Okla. and we cannot locate where she is buried. We thought perhaps because she was part Indian that there was a private burial grounds in the area and have written to all the Cemeteries in and around Skiatook without locating the grave. Any suggestions or assistance will be appreciated. Marian Dingman

1. [OK-CEM] RENTIE GROVE CEMETERY, TULSA
2. Hello, List! My sister, Pat, and I have been taking pictures and inventorying the visible headstones at Rentie Grove Historical Cemetery, located at about 95th and South Harvard in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Rentie Grove was established as a community cemetery back in 1904, as part of the Rentie Grove Community, which was a primarily black community just to the east of Jenks, where I live. Many of the children that lived in Rentie Grove were brought into the Jenks School system back in the 1950s. Their families and their community are very much a part of Jenks History. Pat and I, while hoping to get the entire cemetery inventoried before long, have just started at the front rows and gone up and down photographing headstones. I don't have an "official listing" to identify those unmarked graves. I'm in the process now of adding hyperlinks to the names we do have to take you to the photographs. Please visit our site, "Kinfolk Korner" at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kinfolkkorner And, as always, if you have any additions, corrections or information that might enhance these new pages, please feel free to speak out! We LOVE to get "help." Have a wonderful holiday season. Blessings, Susan Strain <>< "Kinfolk Korner"

1. [OK-CEM] From List Mom - My Christmas Holiday
2. Kathleen Burnett
3. Dear List Members, On Monday, December 23, I begin my Christmas Holiday week. I am spending it with my four children, their wives and husbands and my 9.5 grandchildren. It will be the first time in over 10 years I have had all my children with me for Christmas. I am thrilled to say the least. It is hard, as many of you know, when all of your children and grandchildren live thousands of miles from you. As you have already guessed, I will not be spending as much time as usual online watching over your list, but I will be back to full time on Tuesday, December 31st. I have also chosen not to have a list-sitter watch you while I am away. I really do not think you need one. I will be checking in each evening after the grandchildren and down for the day. If there is a problem which you think I need to address, send a personal message to me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. I will check those first thing each night. If off topic messages are sent or if suddenly someone calls for a Roll Call, please just let it pass. Just smile and remember what I would say and hit that delete button. I will take care of the problems for you as soon as I check in. I have the best lists on Rootsweb and the greatest members so I know you will be just fine. I wish for each of you and yours a special Holiday Season filled with love, friendship, friends and family. I thank each of you for your friendship and for your support this past year. You fill my my world. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
