By the way, to the list: I just told Buddy that I would check for the cemetary in Coalgate. I will be at the Pittsburgh Historical Society doing some research. I will only be there 2 and 1/2 to 3 days, so my time is a little limited, but if there's something you want me to check or if you want headstone pictures of McAlester Oakhill/Kiowa/Harper's Valley graves, then let me know and, if possible, I'll be glad to get them for you. You have to be able to tell me where the graves are, though, especially Oakhill is pretty big. Take care and go safely Tsa na ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2001 11:22 AM Subject: Re: [OK-CEM] obit for Q T > Hi, this is Buddy Texarkans, Tx, Do you ever hear of any information from > around Coalgate, Ok, of Leigh Cem, I belive my grand parents are berried > there, I am not for sure I have serched for 4 years with no results Also my > dad ,Bert Jones was borned there, may3 1889, to Allen and Mary Jones, Thanks > for listening. Hopefully someone in that area can help with the Osborn Cemetery. I live too far away in Tulsa, but its nice to see that someone cares enough to let people know where they are so these cemetaries may be acknowledged again. Good Luck!
I have an old family cemetery that I just found not to long ago and have as yet been unable to get it cleaned up, I have back problems and can not do alot of lifting, bending and stuff like that. It is in Payne County, Osborn Cemetery. This is where it is located: Osborn Cemetery Directions: 4 miles East, 2 1\2 miles south; & 1\2 miles East of Stillwater, Oklahoma. From: Hwy 177 & Hwy 51 ( 6th Street ) Go 3 miles south this will be 44th street Turn left or east go 3 miles ( Fairgrounds Rd. ) Turn Left or North go 1 mile then turn Right or East go 1 mile then turn right or south, go 1\2 mile, On left side of Rd. of East, will be a driveway follow to House; the owner of the land will lead you to the cemetery. You go across 2 cattle guards follow road to trees - road ends Go across pasture NE you will see a iron gate & a fenced section of land that hopefully will be cleaned up, If not it will be overgrown go thru gate- go North along fence, will see a gate to cemetery, be sure to close gate because the owner has cattle.

I have a picture of LAVERNE HARMON, HARMON, DARRELL BYRD, THANE SARGENT, ELDRED HARMON, MILDRED CUMMINGS, (Teacher's sister ), OZELL UPCHURCH PRATHER. The four boys were students of QINNIE CUMMINGS, she took the picture. OZELL UPCHURCH was Qinnie's friend and my favorite aunt. They had taken a drive of about 4mi. out side of Ok.City. The picture was taken May , 1937. I can send the pic via E-mail to any one who is interested. Jeanene Standfier Carver Armstrong, Austin, Battle, Carver, Dudney, Ellis, Van Buren Johnson, Alfred N. Fred, Thank you so much for locating Tison's grave for me. His obituary is probably in Garfield Co. That is where his parents were living. I should be able to get his obituary from the library there. I live near Charleston, SC., which is about 200 to 230 miles to Abbeville/Anderson areas. I live about 100 miles from the SC State Archives, which would be a good place to do research. I live about 30 miles from the nearest Family History Center, which would be another good place to do research. I rarely go to the FHC. However, I'd be happy to see if they have any information for you the next time I go to do research. Thank you again for your help.
