1. [OK-CEM] NEW SITE - American Family Immigration History Center
2. This site lists immigrant records from Ellis Island from the late 1800's through the 1930's. It's a brand new site and it is extremely busy, you might not get in, but keep trying. Toward the bottom of the introduction page you will see the word "continue" that looks like a link, click on that and if you're among the fortunate ones you'll get in. I don't know if this site is fee based or not. I just saw it on the network news here on the night it went online. American Family Immigration History Center http://www.ellisislandrecords.org

1. [OK-CEM] search for descendant of Herman Knight
2. Karen Sanchez
3. Hi Tammie and all! I received a request for assistance in finding a descendant for Herman Knight. I've come up with the following information and need further help, hopefully from someone on this mailing list. If anyone knows a relative, or other information, I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks! Karen Sanchez Robert Due Knight b:3/25/1846 married Martha Louisa West Son: Herman Knight b:c1878 Residence 1896 Vinita, OK "The last records I have for them are their Dawes applications from 1902 and at this time Herman and his father, Robert Due Knight, were both living. This actually supports the possability of this Herman being the owner of the deed from 1913 because Herman was the oldest boy and if his father died in 1913 then Herman would logically become heir to Robert's property. Robert's Dawes roll number was 8519 and this number would have been on his original deed to the property as allocated by the Dawes commission. I don't know if this "certificate number" would have been transferred to the new deed. Herman was old enough in 1902 to receive his own Dawes allocation and Herman's roll# was 16760 which would have been used as a "certificate number" on his land allocation. " (NOTE - Per Keith, this certificate number is correct and on the deed. So we've found the right Herman Knight, just need to know of any descendants). ------------------- >Karen Sanchez: I have been trying to find a descendant of Herman Knight. > He >homesteaded in the Cherokee Nation, Ok. in 1913.
