First, to get it highlighted, you have to be on one of the "trees" under view, or the genealogy report. Once you have that, you can click on options. On this list is "generations to show". Click on that, and put down the number of generation you want. You can change them at any time while you have these views.
Dear List Members - PLEASE DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS on the personal e-mail you are receiving without being 100% plus sure who it is from and that it is not a virus and the only way you can be this sure is run a Virus Scan. The new one now is "Homepage" If you open the Homepage attachment, it sends a copy of itself to everyone in your address book. Homepage then randomly chooses an adult Web page to display on the system's default Internet browser." To learn more aobut this one go to http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,2708116,00.html Homepage is just one of many. If you would like to know more about all of this you can join the Virus Discussion Mailing list by sending the word Subscribe to [email protected] We are going to be OK. These viruses cannot be sent through Rootweb so it is up to each of us to protect our fellow members. When I get a message from one of you and see that you have the virus, your e-mail address is unsubscribed from the mailing list until you get your computer system clean and then you are welcomed back with open arms. Just remember - do not open ANY attachements unless you are sure it is not a virus. If you are not sure - delete it. Those of us who are deeply nvolved in our genealogical research are so fearful that we are going to delete that one clue, which we have been waiting for, that many of us are opening these attachements - taking the chance - and because of this we are being hit hard by the virus. I appreciate your help with this. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members: If you are unsubscribed from the list, and it is not what you wanted, just re-subscribe yourself. If for some reason your address bounced several times, at no fault of your own, the system removes your address from the list. So if you see it happening to you all you have to do is re-subscribe yourself or send me a message and I will take care of it for you. Please be careful and DO NOT OPEN ANY MAIL WITH AN ATTACHMENT unless you are 100% sure you know what it is and even then run a virus scan. You cannot get a virus through the Rootsweb mailing list, but you can receive it from members of the list who's computer system has a virus. As soon as I know one of our members has a virus I unsubscribe them until they can clean their system. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns as to his list or suggestions for the benefit of all the members. Contact me personally please [email protected] For your enjoyment, this link was sent to me to share with you. It is another fun map - and shows when areas of the country were included in a US Census. http://www.segenealogy.com/sgo03.htm Thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Thought some of our new members would like to see this and some of us old members might like to see it again. :) To see the growth in the United States between 1650 and 1983? This is a great visual. http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~stephan/Animation/us.gif Just a reminder. If you would like to know what lists you are on or would like help in unsubscribing go to Rootswebs Password Central, type in your e-mail address and then check "What list(s) am I on? Dear Jean: Thank you so much. What a wonderful thing you've done. Yes, the graves you found are my grandfather (A.P.), my great grandmother (Mary) and great grandfather (A.T.) I'm not sure who Sadie is, I'll have to check with my mother. We won't be able to make it there for Memorial Day, unfortunately. Do you know who takes care of and operates the cemetery? Thank you again for all your help. I'll keep in touch. Janice, My husband and I ran over to Rossville this evening. I found 4 graves with the Manass name, including one I believe is your gr-grandfather, in the Rossville Cemetery. The graves are about 150 ft. South of the center gate, on the West side. In the first row of graves is a white stone, about 2 ft. high with a curved top. The inscription reads: In Loving Memory Sadie B. dau. of A. H. & I. F. D. Maness Born Jun 5 1903 (Hard to read, could be Jan) Died Sep 10 1906 In the second row, directly west of Sadie is a gray upright stone. The inscription reads: A. T. Maness Jan 30, 1854 Oct 28, 1927 At Rest The next stone north is similar and reads: Mary Maness July 27, 1851 Nov 5, 1936 At Rest There is enough space for a couple of graves, but no stones, then another stone similar to the previous two, except it has a large carved rose on the flat top. I think this is your gr-grandfather. It reads: A. P. Maness July 15, 1892 April 16, 1927 Gone, but not forgotten There is usually an alphabetical listing of all the graves in a glass case under a pavilion across the road from the cemetery. This is also owned by the cemetery. The list and case were gone when we went over there today. I would guess that the trustees are updating the list before Memorial Day. We have some really good people who take very good care of this cemetery and keep the records up to date. There is always a big gathering there on Sat., Sun, and Mon. of Memorial Day week-end, and there is usually one of the trustees around to take donations for the upkeep of the grounds, improvement to the pavilion, etc. After they have decorated the graves of loved ones, folks just sit around on benches and talk about old times while the kids play. When I get back over there I will check the list and see if there are any more with the Maness name and find out who is on the board of trustees these days. In case you don't have the location of the cemetery, it is 4 miles north of U.S. 62 on U.S. 177, and then 1/2 mile west on a dirt road. There is a big (although faded) sign on 177 on the Northwest corner. The cemetery is on the South side of the road, w/ the pavilion and restrooms on the North side. Have a good day, Jean
Kathleen You may want to check the date on your computer. According to the information we are receiving from you, you are in August of this year send email back in time to May!!! ;-) Sounds like a great Science Fiction book to me. Genealogy Time Travel!!! Happy Tree Climbing Martha
The USGS site only includes cemeteries that the USGS knows about and has included on their maps. There are over 70 cemeteries and burial sites in Payne County. The USGS only identifies 45 of them, and of those, two are incorrectly named. So, even though the site can be an excellent starting point, don't assume it has all cemeteries listed. The local genealogy/history society may be a better bet. Thank you Jean - I am looking for my greatgrandfather, Absolum Patton Maness, who I believe is buried there. He died in 1927. Thank you for any help you can provide.
