    3. Actually, there is a cemetery near Iron Stob Corner. The Oklahoma Wildlife Federation printed a topographical county map some years ago that shows cemeteries. The map shows Iron Stob Corner 7 miles west of Idabel on Highway 37 and the cemetery is less than a mile north of the highway on the east side of the road. According to the map, there is also a church across the street from the cemetery. 3. Can anyone tell me if there is a cemetery for a town no longer in existence. Fred Dittmyer was kind enough to locate the location of the town of Cruce in Stephens County (also one in Grant County but my interest is in Stephens County). 3. Dear List Members, Many of you may already know about the "Historical Maps of the United States" site located at http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/histus.html But I just found it and it is wonderful. I have spent the last few hours going through some of the maps and it helped me so much to understand some of the strange migration patterns of my ancestors. Enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend. 1. [OK-CEM] From List Mom Regarding Memorial Day Postings
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Remember as you think about posting a message to the list regarding Memorial Day, that some of our members are not from the United States. We have members from England, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, just to name a few. Please keep this in mind as you send your messages regarding honoring those of our ancestors who fought in wars, served in the military and gave their lives for our beliefs and for the freedoms we hold dear. Our members from other countries also have ancestors who fought, and gave their lives for the beliefs and for the freedoms of their country. We in the genealogical community need to continue to remember that we are a world wide family which is formed from those of many nations, cultures, beliefs and history. This Country was built by those who migrated here from lands around the world. Their history is a part of us as our history is a part of them. I ask you to remember all those who have given their lives in military service world wide this weekend and please show the respect due to each of our members, no matter where they are from or what country they or their ancestors fought for. I appreciate each of you. Have a save weekend. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Jeri, I don't know of a cemetery by that name but there was a school named Iron Stob. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~choctawco/schools.htm is a map of Choctaw Co schools. A more detailed county map is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~choctawco/county/county.htm Iron Stob was in Section 1 of T7S Range 14E The Boswell Historical Society has pretty good records on the small cemeteries in that part of the county. 3. Jeri, I believe that the reference to "iron stob" was an allusion to the markers used in the geological survey and mapping of areas. Therefore, there would be many "iron stobs" throughout the state, but in a small area, one might refer to the "cemetery by the iron stob." Don't take my word for this. It is only what I believe. Anyhow, my cousin in Wendell, Idaho is ready to celebrate his 85th birthday on June 9th. His daughter asked me to request a card shower for him. Shorty has family connections to Caudle, Patrick, Jones, Nickell, Craig, Newton, Bay, Lemaster, Salyer, about all the same as I do. His name is Shorty Bay, but this is a surprise party, so please send cards to: Gayle Orr Attn: Shorty 332 South Wendell St. Wendell, Idaho 83355 Thanks again, and please ask for cards for your special person.
